Simi Valley Police Training Facility and Shooting Range
Risha Engineering provided structural design and construction period services for the new Simi Valley Police Department Shooting Range. The 2-acre site was developed to outfit the shooting range and features an L-shaped, 360 foot-long area that allows officers to shoot on a 180 degree axis, with pneumatic and moving targets for a more challenging tactical practice.
This project utilized cantilevered concrete block retaining walls and proprietary bullet traps with rubber backing in the concrete flatwork. This site also features a free standing sunshade, with a roof area of roughly 2,600 square feet, constructed of cantilever steel columns, roof beams, and metal deck. Designed but not built to reduce construction costs were a weapon and equipment storage and observation room.
